Safeguarding with "Zinc", PRESSLER's Vacuum Hot Forming Post-Galvanizing Process, Empowering Automotive Safety Upgrades

June 9, 2025 08:22 Jiangsu

With the rapid advancement of automotive technology and consumer market demand for long-life vehicle models, the corrosion resistance of body structures has become one of the core indicators for measuring overall vehicle quality. To prevent hot-formed steel from rusting, many automotive brands choose to use coated hot-formed steel. Common hot-formed steel materials and process types include: bare plate hot forming, aluminum-silicon coated plate hot forming, and pre-galvanized coated plate hot forming. Although all can balance strength and safety, each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

PRESSLER breaks through the traditional process framework, innovatively combining bare plate steel vacuum hot forming process with electro-galvanizing surface treatment process, and develops vacuum hot forming post-galvanized parts, providing more reliable corrosion protection for automotive hot stamping parts.

PRESSLER's vacuum hot forming post-galvanized parts use conventional uncoated 22MnB5 material for bare plate butt welding, with unlimited heating curves. The vacuum heating environment causes a significant reduction in oxide scale, eliminating the need for subsequent shot blasting treatment. They have better corrosion resistance than aluminum-silicon coating and indirect hot forming galvanizing, and have better bending angles than aluminum-silicon coating.

Vacuum Hot Forming Line

The core of PRESSLER's vacuum hot forming process is to create a vacuum environment for the heating process of bare metal sheets, maximizing the prevention of oxidation that easily occurs during the heating process of metal sheets.

In practical applications, compared with ordinary hot forming lines, PRESSLER's vacuum hot forming line can achieve bare plate heating and is widely applicable to bare plate door rings, laser tailor-welded blanks, unequal thickness plates and other bare plate hot forming. The automotive parts produced have less oxide scale. Combined with PRESSLER's electro-galvanizing process, it can achieve more advantages such as cost reduction.

Fully Automatic Electroplating Production Line

PRESSLER's fully automatic electro-galvanizing line is an advanced energy-saving equipment with stable coating quality, which can meet the requirements of automated production, improve production efficiency, and adopt a digital control system to ensure the controllability of the production line.

The connection design of the two processes effectively avoids the oxidation defects of bare plate hot-formed steel during the heating process, and improves the controllability of the entire process, which not only ensures the stability of the corrosion resistance of hot stamping parts, but also reduces post-processing costs.

Safety Dimension

  • Complete zinc layer coverage (reinforcement at welding/forming surface scratches/edges/holes/areas without current paint coverage)
  • Long-term corrosion resistance ensures structural integrity

Economic Dimension

  • Reduce secondary anti-corrosion treatment costs
  • Extend vehicle life cycle value

PRESSLER's self-developed product vacuum hot forming electro-galvanized door ring fully demonstrates the advantages of this innovative process:
